Dark mornings

6.45 in the morning

Black clouds cover the dark sky

We walk in silence

just the noise of my footsteps

the rain lashing down

hitting the canopy of trees overhead

we stumble over tree roots,

Black dog cannot be seen

I hear him running through the woods

I am warm in my coat

The rain soaked trousers

remind me I am alive

the rain freshens the air

Winter stretches ahead

Many dark mornings stretch ahead

I look forward to light mornings again
