Back to the beginning

Patio was laid wonky

Non-matching slabs

Years waited

To stand not in mud

Patiently asking

A solution found

Materials gathered

A hole dug out

The rain came down

In torrents, fast

Now I’m back to the beginning

No patio here

A hole in the ground

Filled with muddy water

And patience is my best friend.

Can you and Given back

Todays poems come from song titles. These were done in a group. The first set of 4 song titles were picked out of a hat the second set were the ones i put into a hat.

Song Titles picked.

.

This is the end of a beautiful friendship

Englishman in New York

Boulevard of broken dreams

How can you mend a broken heart?

.

Can you?

.A Boulevard in New York,

Is a broken dream

Is a broken heart

Is an Englishman

Can you mend this heart?

Can you mend this dream?

Can you mend the end of a beautiful friendship?

.

My own choice of song titles.

.

Life is a lemon and I want my money back

How can you mend a broken heart?

Four Seasons in one day

They can’t take that away from me

.

Given Back

.Money From me and you

Take away my broken heart

How can I? How can’t I?

This lemon of a life

That they want back

The seasons mend one day

Eccentricity

This eccentric person

Waiting to get out

Bizarre and curious

Sense of humour

Funny and offbeat

Quirky and mad

With random thoughts

Whimsical ideas

With my airhead ways

I’m ditzy and dopey

Do I fit in?

Am I a fish out of water?

Am I quaint or mad?

With my amusing tales

My bantering ways

Inquiring, inquisitive

Searching for a way

Sceptical of others

Or am I just plain old unique?

Kiss Me Quick Hat

As the tide washes up

On the pebble beach

The sun starts to fade

Feet sink into pockets of sand

Squeals come from the sea

One foot on the pier

We tentatively step

With music blasting

And ‘kiss me quick’ hats

The soft ice creams

And the slot machines

You kiss me,

Wind blows in my face

Seagulls screech overhead

People bustle and bump

With hot dogs and pancakes

Laughing and joking

Kids running around

As I trip on the planks

I look down through the gaps

Will I fall, will they break

Will I get sucked out to sea?

Not today you hold my hand

The smells of sweet sugar

Chocolate and sea

Fill me with images of my childhood

Henna tattoos and stalls filled with tat

Yet all of them bustling

Things to take home

To put in a box

For the memory game

Much later in life.

The fairground rides

Perched on the end

And the haunted house

Makes me smile

I look at you

You look out to sea

At the boats bobbing along

At the men with fishing rods

At the kids jumping in

Where they should know better

Then you glance at me

And smile

No words exchanged

What thoughts in your mind

Are they a jumble like mine?

As we step off the pier

Join the throng of the crowd

The seaside experience

Left behind

With the ‘kiss me quick’ hat

And a smile and a laugh

And memories built

Which were made to last.

A Perfect View

From the top of the hill

Forest stretches afar

Green patchwork hills

Sapphire blue sky

Wispy vapour trails

A  perfect view.

.

From the top of the cliff

Deep blue sea, Sun shimmering

White crests rising

Sailing boats bob up and down

Seagulls soar on the breeze

A perfect view

.

From the office window

Dark green trees

Blowing gently in the wind

Patchwork hiss in the distance

Pigeons bask in the sun

A perfect view

.

From the bedroom window

Small garden bursting with colour

Squirrels scampering across fences

Bees and flies sharing the air highways

Regardless of weather

Each a perfect view.

Conquering the dark

Dark is everywhere

No hiding from it

Peeking around each corner

Engulfing, consuming me

Sound of silence is haunting

Stillness, no breath of air

No tick of a clock,

No owls hooting

The dead of the night

Darkly mysterious

Eerily touching me

Shards of moonlight,

Stream through the curtain

Dancing on the walls

Shadows disturb me

Not a moment to relax

My guard is up

What will worry me next?

The silence?

The darkness?

The shadows?

Will my fear go?

One deep breath

Slowly released

As I conquer the dark.
