Elergy to you

Day 3

Good things come in small packages

you always said to me

like a precious stone

in a small box

i look at myself

this small girl who saw

her small grandmother

wise words from someone who knew

her smallness was her shell

inside she was a giant

the head of the house

the best cook of all

the one with treats in the pantry

the largest smile that stretched miles

the infectious laugh

that lit up the room

from a tiny acorn grows a giant oak

she reminded me when I was down

you’re not so small

you are tall

you are your own giant

now I smile

still small in height

and remind myself

that inside this package

was a very good person. Me.

Outside the window

From the noisy bustling office

warm, musty and dark

shards of bright light stream in

branch shadows dance on the desk

swirling, twisting, slowly then quickly

as I stare at the window

light fluffy clouds race by

they tease me to join them

the empty trees sway in the breeze

the world looks silent through the window

my mind wanders, to faraway places

to distant lands, to sun kissed oceans

my dreams take me away from my desk

to warmth, colour and squeals of delight

distant forests with chattering birds

floating lazily in downstream backwaters

hot sandy beaches and ice cold beer

a ring of the phone

I’m back in reality

gazing once more

outside the window

Steps

IMG_0566

Steps stretch high in the air

Two dragon feet waot at the bottom

Covered in gold, twinkle in the light

I must raise the energy to tackle the steps

Each one taken slowly in the midday sun

People stop, take breath, look upwards

I fill my lungs with air

Steadily move forwards

My legs ache, my heart beats rapidly

The end is in sight

The temple looks down on me

The dragons face smiles

Encrusted in tiny golden mirrors

Brightly coloured glass

Small ceramic tiles

They capture the sun

Reflecting the light, Shining brightly

I look down the steps,

Such a long distance

And wonder, will it be MacDonald’s for tea?

Half moon

I saw the moon, I thought of you

This half moon shining brightly

Do you see the same moon I see?

Is yours as bright as mine?

This half moon I see,

It radiates happiness

From my side it is so bright

It captures my thoughts

It shares them with the stars

They twinkle brightly

We search for the stars we know

Stories unfold, memories shared

As the dark sky fills with tiny lights

So even when you’re not with me

And when the clouds are dark

The moon is always there

Waiting for the moment

To share its light once more

So you can see the moon

Is it look the same as mine?
