Flashing red light

I see the flashing red light

as it dances around the wood

it leaps high in the air

then is completely still

I see the flashing red light

in the distance

moving at great speed

close to the ground

I see you

on a dark misty morning

as we walk through the woods

with your flashing red light

hanging on your collar

for once

I see your walk not mine

Free as a bird

Cage door opens

bird perches on the edge

Unsure of whats outside

of the bars of the cage

Hesitantly,launches

bird flies fast and high

landing high in a tree

Bird is free

I want to be, Free as a bird

to choose what I do

When I have a holiday

Take a break for lunch

Not to be on the hamster wheel

Not to be dictated too

Self sufficient, live my life

As free as a bird, not locked in a cage

The River of Life

The stream gently trickles along

This babbling brook, singing merrily

It’s water continually changing and moving

Like the river, we are always doing things for the first time

Twisting, turning, gaining momentum

It bends and twists, deepening and widening

With uncertainty, like life, this cannot stagnate

not knowing the depth or the speed, we take a chance

Gushing the river flows faster, it crashes on rocks

Swirling and changing direction

In life you can’t push against the water,

Flow Freely yourself, just as the river does

Like life, things change change

A dam diverts it, takes it on a new path

We can do the same if we take a chance

Following a new branch if we choose

The river does not live in the past

Nor does it live in the future

It lives in the present, in this moment only

Living once, then it meanders away

The trickling waters slows right down

Taking time to gently wander

Take a step back for a moment, look at your life

Take a chance, before it meanders away.

Human being or Human Doing

I am a ‘Human doing’
I am on the hamsters wheel
Day in day out up for work,
Rushing here, and there.
.
There are a couple of variations,
Shall I walk or take the car.
Sandwich or salad for lunch
Oh the humdrum of a Human doing.
.
In fact I am a Human being
I am living for every day
I’m getting off the hamsters wheel
No more rushing for me.
.
Read a book, glass of wine
Potter in the garden
Visit all those places I desire
Take my time there is no hurrying.
.
I want to take it easy
I want to take it slowly
Enjoy every single second of my time
For I am a Human being not a Human doing

Live for the moment

We live our lives in the fast lane, our children’s lives seem to stretch out such a long way, just as our own had done. Before we know it time has flown along. We make sure we are pleasing as many as we can as often as we can. I know for me I have come to realize that I must please myself. To slow down, to not dash around, for the things I don’t have time for today will most likely still be there tomorrow.

I’m going to try and live for the moment, not live in the past or worry about the future. Or at least give it a go.

Live for the Moment

Does time fly when we are having fun?  As a child it seems to fly

We want our school days to go fast and our weekends to go slowly

And our holidays to almost stop as we revel in our fun.

Yes it flies when we were having fun.

.

As they say time waits for no one, we watch our children grow so fast

We rush around working and building our lives.

Our children finish school and college and start working

Before we know it they are married with children of their own. Why didn’t time wait?

.

How often are we aware that times run out? Is it when we look in the mirror?

Who is the face that’s looking at me? When did those lines appear?

I’m stopping time now; I’m getting right off this fast world.

I’m going the smell the roses, see the colours and live for the moment.
