Mud Zombies

Dark deep black pool

Bubbling gently, steam rising

Squelching mud

Oozes between my toes

Hot, sticking to my skin

Entering slowly, being engulfed

Disappearing within the dark slimy mud

All is quiet and still

Emerging from the pool

Each one covered

Bright eyes, white teeth

Skin black, faces covered

Struggling to stand

Slipping underfoot

Sliding, laughing, talking

Zombies awkwardly climbing out

Dark grey fades to light

Skin taught, crackling skin

Zombies moving slowly

Towards a hot pool

Diving in

Emerging quickly

Zombies disappeared

We are people once again.

Autumnal August

Fierce hot sun is now a warm glow

Brilliant blue skies turns into baby blue

Harsh hard light, is now soft to the face

Warm summer air, now has a nip to its touch

Cobnuts are heavy, pulling branches down

Hundreds of Blackberries all pumped up and lush

A glut of Rose hips adorn the bushes

There is a feast ahead for us all.

Summer feels as its coming to an end

August great heat has disappeared

Autumn has come early, or at least that’s how it feels

The seasons are moving, away from the norm

I’m not hot I’m cool

The heat is amazing, no sun, no breeze

Dark skies, humidity, we struggle

We need to think cool thoughts

Ice in a gin and tonic

Cool lake to swim in

Snow capped mountains

Icy water running from glaciers

I think cool thoughts

I turn the fan on full

It whips my hair into a tangled mess

No worries, bare feet on the flagstones outside

Ice cold Gin and Tonic in my hand

Rain is released from the dark black clouds

Soaking me from head to toe

I feel like a child being sprayed with water

I laugh and giggle as I dance in the rain

It feels so good to feel alive.

Two knees

Two knees looked up to the sky
It’s hot out here left said to right
I know said right I’m rather hot
I’m burning said left with a moan

Two knees looked up to the sky
There’s a bit of a breeze right said
I know said left I wish it would cool me
Me too, said right, it’s all too much.

Two knees looked up to the sky
I’ve had enough left said to right
Do you think we have to stay much longer?
I hope not said right, who knows what he thinks.

Two knees looked up to the sky
I want to get up and move right said
It’s going to be sore left said to right
When will he realize it’s time to go

The knees started to move,
No more looking up to the sky
Hoorah, left said to right I’m pleased
You know we have to do this tomorrow.

The knees were moving forward
What do you mean tomorrow said right
Well we are on this thing called holiday
The man lies down and looks up to the sky

You mean we have to look at the sky again
Right said to left with a quiver
Yes said left, we certainly do
It’s not a holiday its torture in the sun
