Worth getting up for

This is the sort of morning that

The dew sparkles on the grass

The sun shines through the trees

Casing elongated shadows

Adorning the deep leaf carpet

The nip in the air tingles on the lips

Spider’s webs wait, hang between trees

Holding diamond droplets of dew

Waiting to stick to my face

Water bubbles and trickles

Gently meandering downstream

Birds gentling singing

In the canopy above

I stand in the warm sun

And close my eyes

It could almost be summer

Then the nip of the air

Tingles on my lips

And I remember autumn has arrived

And this is a day

Worth getting up for.

Chronic Regrets

I should not look back

leave the past behind me

Little things niggle

That I can’t let go

The child I missed time with

The loves that I’ve lost

Homes that have gone

Moments that were missed

Kisses now a dream

No hand to hold

I should write them down

Burn the ash and bury

Leave the regrets

Deep in the ground

And make space

To embrace the now

Have empty arms to receive

New love, adventures

Time ticks on

No more chronic regrets.

Summer weather

Storm clouds gather, darkening the sky

Water streams from them with hail

Thunder rolls and crashes around me

The sky is light with sheets of lightening.

Wind blows them away quickly

The sky becomes a brilliant blue

The leaves on the trees so fresh and green

Sun’s rays, quickly warms the air

Summers weather unpredictable

Soaking up the sun, heat on our skin

Smiles on our faces, happiness in our hearts

Newness and Silence

gorse

Bright yellow  flowers burst over the gorse

Like sun rays, covering the forest

Bright new leaves softly swaying

Blue skies stretch beyond the beyond

.

Rabbits hide in clumps of heather

tiny buds of pink and white appear

Deer graze on the heath in the distance

Hide, protected by woodland thickets

.

The smell of newness on the warm breeze

The sound of silence echoes in my ears

Come share this space, this time with me

Let the newness and silence be us

Heavy rain

Black clouds adorn the sky

bursting with heaviness

Slight drizzle trickles down

then heavy downpours

gushing from the sky

falling, bouncing on the ground

small streams run down the path

small leaf islands form

changing the streams course

water rushes looking for a way

desperatly  winding down the pth

clouds lighten

rain subsides

everything lookes washed out
