Half moon

I saw the moon, I thought of you

This half moon shining brightly

Do you see the same moon I see?

Is yours as bright as mine?

This half moon I see,

It radiates happiness

From my side it is so bright

It captures my thoughts

It shares them with the stars

They twinkle brightly

We search for the stars we know

Stories unfold, memories shared

As the dark sky fills with tiny lights

So even when you’re not with me

And when the clouds are dark

The moon is always there

Waiting for the moment

To share its light once more

So you can see the moon

Is it look the same as mine?

If I painted a picture

If I painted a picture

What would you see?

A bright moon shining

In a blue velvet sky

Glistening in the dark sea

.

If I painted a picture

What would you see?

Warm breeze running through

My sun kissed hair

Ruffling it up

.

If I painted a picture

What would you see?

My smile laughing

As you joke and laugh

Making me happy

.

If I painted a picture

What would you see?

Bright blue skies

Turquoise lagoon

Water lapping at our feet

.

If you painted a picture

What would I see?

You smiling back at me

You laughing, your happiness

You being you, me being me

Light of the Russian Doll

Dark is my space

No Sunlight, No twilight,

No moonlight, No starlight.

Hidden away, forgotten.

Silence falls around me

Only my memories

Talk in my head

Nestled in this void

No understanding of time

I once was beautiful

Painted elaborately

The smallest one

At the very heart

In the middle of the layers

Now movement

Gently at first then

Shaking, banging

Suddenly brightness

Searing, exciting

Releasing me from this space

Freedom and identity

My time to shine

As I am brought

Into the light

Conquering the dark

Dark is everywhere

No hiding from it

Peeking around each corner

Engulfing, consuming me

Sound of silence is haunting

Stillness, no breath of air

No tick of a clock,

No owls hooting

The dead of the night

Darkly mysterious

Eerily touching me

Shards of moonlight,

Stream through the curtain

Dancing on the walls

Shadows disturb me

Not a moment to relax

My guard is up

What will worry me next?

The silence?

The darkness?

The shadows?

Will my fear go?

One deep breath

Slowly released

As I conquer the dark.

Riding again

So today’s Napowrimo’s  challenge was to write a poem that involves an urgent journey and an important message.

morning light

It was on this day, in nineteen fifteen

A man with a hood, saddled his horse,

He rode through the land, as the moon was high

Shadows and darkness were all around.

.

The horse took up speed, down muddy tracks

Galloping through dense forests and streams

The man with the hood, pushed on through the night

He was desperate to beat the first light.

.

Before the dawn broke, was the end of the ride,

The message delivered intact.

As he looked in the distance,

Darkness was changing, the light appearing too fast

.

Pushing his horse to gather speed

The destination was now in sight

And on the horizon, the dawn was breaking

The house appeared at last.

.

Dismounting his steed, removing his hood,

His face was all twisted and drawn,

A white form appeared, ‘your too late, I got here first’

The message was loud and clear.

.

The man with the hood, with a howl of dismay

Snarled,  his delivery was too late again,

Beaten by the angel, all covered in white

Death would need to go riding again.

Perfect start to the day

Frost glistens in the moonlight

Like a thousand twinkling stars

Iced leaves crunch underfoot

Into hundreds of tiny pieces

Mud on the ground is so hard

My feet no longer sink into it

My breath is white and still

Lingering in the air

The darkness encircles me

The moonlight shines the way

The early morning is crisp and cold

What a perfect start to the day
