Rise above

Orange sun rose above the horizon

Spread its warm glow across the sky

Smile on the face of a woman

As she started her day

Rise above the words echoed

The squabbling, the shouting the petty remarks

Ignore trivial matters today

No being burdened with unkind words

Stop others concerns weighing her down

Adopt a better attitude than other

She was determined to rise above

Head held high

Gentle smile

Happy lilt in her voice

She was completely resolute

Not to lower herself to their level

Remain focus, and calm

As she rose above the day.

Unique Sunset

The evening’s crepuscular charm

With is whole setting sun

A brilliant pale yellow orb

Slowly lowering itself in the sky

Pouring out brilliant orange hues

Mixed with dark reds and browns

Filling the sky like molten lava

Painting the sky magnificently

Threads of light mingling with wispy clouds

Each layer, overlapping the brightness

Delicate and frail as they linger in the sky

Sitting patiently, waiting for the moment

For that one photo, that changes my world

Crisp air floats downwards, like a deflated balloon

The sky is captured, that moment in time

There will never be an identical sunset

Twilight has arrived

Disenchantment

My eyes are closed
A pungent smell wafts into my face
As I gasp it fills my lungs
A dry powdery acid taste hits the back of my throat
I gulp, as I breathe deeply I feel nausea
The smell is penetrating my skin, my clothes
Its rotting stench rises up inside me
I can bare it no longer, my eyes open
A Lilly is placed before me
Purple streaks bleed into the white petals
The orange stamen sheds its powder
How can a thing of such beauty have a perfume that is so foul?
