Traditional Start

Huge hall filled with people

Anticipation and excitement

Then silence all around.

The violin plays the opening notes

People stand as one huge choir

Voices fill the air

Harmonious in unison

Remembering the king of kings

The celebration of Christ being born

Notes strengthen, confidence rises

Singing Glory to God

For unto us a child is born

Lastly, belting out Hallelujah

Raises the roof

A jubilant performance

One never seen before

Being part of a mass

Singing in harmony

The start of my Christmas celebrations.

Finding a way

Patience, I wait for your call

Your text, your rant

I draw breath and smile

The words flow gently

Regardless of your anger

Kindness, I give this willingly to you

Despite the fact you hate

They are just words

The kinder I am to you

The less hatred you show.

Silence, time for you to speak

I will listen, hear and understand

Your words are important to me

The more you speak, the quieter I am

The calmer you become

Love, I give to you in abundance

Through smiles, kind words and patience

You don’t see the love yet,

You take it all from me

In time you will return it

You are difficult to me, to yourself

Your anger is portrayed in speech and actions

In time, it dissipates,

In time you hear me again

In time you will find your way

Ghost Walk

As the sun went down

And darkness approached

We waited with baited breath

Then out of the shadows, A man appeared

Dressed in Edwardian clothes.

Top hat and cloak

a cane in one hand

A medieval city, haunted with charm

As he started his curious tales,

With a whisper of caution,

And an evil laugh

The story starts to unfold.

We strain to hear his words.

We look for ghosts in silence

Quietly walking through cobbled streets

Straining to see in the dark

Mist rises up from the ground

A eerie silence rests upon us

We stop by a vacant shop

And in the window a flickering light

A blood curdling sound from above

Heart beating fast, holding my breath

A cold damp feeling touches my neck

Sends shivers down my spine

As I peer through my fingers

The shadows dance around

In the flaming light

I wonder what is next

Then the wickedest of laughs

Resonates through my head

As the flickering flame disappears

And out of the shadows steps

Our guide with a smile and says

There no ghosts here tonight.

Conquering the dark

Dark is everywhere

No hiding from it

Peeking around each corner

Engulfing, consuming me

Sound of silence is haunting

Stillness, no breath of air

No tick of a clock,

No owls hooting

The dead of the night

Darkly mysterious

Eerily touching me

Shards of moonlight,

Stream through the curtain

Dancing on the walls

Shadows disturb me

Not a moment to relax

My guard is up

What will worry me next?

The silence?

The darkness?

The shadows?

Will my fear go?

One deep breath

Slowly released

As I conquer the dark.

Newness and Silence

Bright yellow  flowers burst over the gorse

Like sun rays, covering the forest

Bright new leaves softly swaying

Blue skies stretch beyond the beyond

Rabbits hide in clumps of heather

tiny buds of pink and white appear

Deer graze on the heath in the distance

Hide, protected by woodland thickets

The smell of newness on the warm breeze

The sound of silence echoes in my ears

Come share this space, this time with me

Let the newness and silence be us

Change is acomming

Eerie silence fills the air

the day has come for change

My choice, my change

The last day day has come

My comfort blanket of a job has stopped

whipped away, my choice

This is the end of an era

Jobs last day has come

There is an ache inside for what I know

a sadness for leaving it behind

apprehension for what comes next

I know that this will pass

I cant expect different if things stay the same

There is always a choice, which I grab

Today is the end of my comfortable job

On Monday a new chapter starts.
