Silent Disco

DJ poised on stage to perform

The crowd wait in anticipation

He punches the air

The crowd roar

Then silence does prevail

The crowd dance

Punch their hand in the air

They dance the night away

Except for the odd shout

The music has disappeared

Head phoned adorns the crowd

Silence often is heard

No music, no singing

The crowd dances madly

They sing out of tune

They clap and whistle with delight

Once again the DJ not heard

Just the silent Disco is playing

Double

Day 15  Napowrimo

Words spoken in silent tongue
Only One understands
In complete harmony
Identical movements
Feeling each other’s pain
Like two peas in a pod
Double trouble
There are two of us
We are as one

What do I know?

So today’s NapoWrimo prompt Is to write a poem about things I know. There are a few of then :-

sea

The sun makes freckles appear on my face

I need my woollen hat when there’s an icy cold wind

That I can’t touch the bottom when I swim out at sea

That the blue Ink in my pen will turn black in time

.

When my mobile is on silent it won’t make a noise

Singing makes my heart happy,

And grey days make me sad

the strawberry top seashell is very special to me

.

I know where ever I am

what ever the weather

If I can see the sea

I know I am at peace

Uninvited Ghost

There is something not quite right

Something feels a little weird

The door which I closed this morning

Is now ajar. I stand still

My heart beats loudly, inside my head

I walk into the lounge, its silent

I cant quite work out whats missing,

I stand still looking around

The fish pump is quiet, its not working at all

I look at the plug, its turned off

The phone is unplugged as well,

Something here is not right

I sit silently, I take it all in

An old lady died here last year

Is she trying to tell me something?

I really don’t want a ghost here.

I shake myself together,

It must have been me,

Not with it this morning,

There is no uninvited ghost here.

That pesky mouse

Darkened room, still and silent

Scrabbling and rustling fills the air

I stir,  wondering what it is

I remember, that pesky mouse

Pop, pop, pop goes the bubble wrap

Rustle, crackle crunch

My quiet night is no longer

It’s that pesky mouse

The noises echo in the empty room

I can bare it no longer

I bang the floor with my hand

That pesky mouse scuttles away

Bang, bounce, roll , yet another noise

What is it this time I wonder?

That pesky mouse has found another new toy

Its a conker rolling on the floorboards

I’m going to be deprived of sleep again

I get up and shut the bedroom door

There are still muffled noises of the conker rolling

That pesky mouse has to go.

Schools out for summer

There is an eerie silence this morning

peace is all around

the cool air greets me

only the birds are singing

no cars roaring their engines

no shouts and screams at the kids

no dogs barking madly

just stillness and peace

There are long hot sunny days ahead

parents are gearing themselves

for excitement from kids at home

its the start of the school holidays

I’m enjoying the peace of the morning

no cars filling the roads

let the six weeks stretch out for a long time

I’m not sure the parents will agree.

Gentle Start

Coffee in hand, steam gently rising

Sat on my favourite chair in the garden

The heat of the sun shines strongly on my face

I close my eyes, its bright yellow

There is peace in the air, not a sound to be heard

not a bird, or a bee has woken this early

A cool soft  breeze brushes against my legs

Silent, gentle start to a working day.
