Summer weather

Storm clouds gather, darkening the sky

Water streams from them with hail

Thunder rolls and crashes around me

The sky is light with sheets of lightening.

Wind blows them away quickly

The sky becomes a brilliant blue

The leaves on the trees so fresh and green

Sun’s rays, quickly warms the air

Summers weather unpredictable

Soaking up the sun, heat on our skin

Smiles on our faces, happiness in our hearts

Spirit in the Sky

Black menacing clouds gather above

Sharp Cracks of thunder roll around the sky

Bright lights flashes lights up the dark

Then lightening forks rush downwards

Deep sinister clouds swell in numbers

Rain batters against the window

Looking deep into this dark obscurity

What do they hide behind their darkness?

Spirits in the sky, desperate to break free

Hope

Today the prompt came from “Hope” is the thing with feathers – (314) BY EMILY DICKINSON  It was asked that we added words, took out punctuation and made it our own.  So here is my attempt.

stormy sea

Hope is the creature with plumage,

It balances within the soul

He sings the wordless harmony,

Increasingly, his sweet voice rises

As the storm increases, I listen more

As the tempest becomes painful,

The little birds does sing with such enthusiasm

He continually keeps a glow

And in the coldest extremes,

On the strongest sea

Yet never in his wildest dreams

Did he ever ask anything of me?

A little spot of rain

Slate clouds fill the sky

Drops of rain fall steadily

Wind whips around the trees

thunder rumbles islowly

The storm arrives with vengence

Rain pours from the sky heavily

It pushes its way through the sealed window

The patio becomes a pond as the water rises

Lightening carves its way through the slate

The water collects with nowhere to go

A branch snaps as the wind takes hold

A clap of thunder startles me

Slate clouds turn to pale grety

Wind blows softly

Rain drops become little spots

The water is dying away.

Breaking the Peace

Dark sultry humid night, sleep is hard.

A bright light flashes through the gap in the curtains

A crack of thunder fills my ears

There is silence again, no rumble

Sheets of  bright light fill the sky,

Bolts of lightning  race to the ground at speed

It looks like it’s ripping the sky in two

Simultaneously the thunder cracks

The noise is deafening, breaking the peace

Wind whips through the trees

Huge rain drops fall from the sky

Then as fast as it arrived,

The sound of thunder rolls slowly away,

The lightening disappears from the sky

The wind and rain die away

There is peace once more

and the air remains humid and sultry.

Mackerel Sky, Storm is nigh

The clear blue skies that stretched forever have gone

feathery clouds are whisping across the sky,

its almost as if the sky is wearing curls today

A change is a foot in the weather

they spread into one another as far as I can see

their pale whiteness is so thin and transparent

its like a fog that the sun is trying to break through

is there rain on its way now?

They ripple across the sky all grainy

The striped patterns are like fish scales

All puffy and round getting darker

The mackerel sky, a storm is nigh
