Finding a way

Patience, I wait for your call

Your text, your rant

I draw breath and smile

The words flow gently

Regardless of your anger

Kindness, I give this willingly to you

Despite the fact you hate

They are just words

The kinder I am to you

The less hatred you show.

Silence, time for you to speak

I will listen, hear and understand

Your words are important to me

The more you speak, the quieter I am

The calmer you become

Love, I give to you in abundance

Through smiles, kind words and patience

You don’t see the love yet,

You take it all from me

In time you will return it

You are difficult to me, to yourself

Your anger is portrayed in speech and actions

In time, it dissipates,

In time you hear me again

In time you will find your way

It’s good to talk

We text, we email

Message electronically

In our heads we speak

We share our day

We message at night

We want 24/7 communication

When there is none

We stop

We worry, panic

Pick up the phone and speak

We chat and love

we forget

its good to talk

Act of Kindness

The smallest word
Can cause the biggest pain
Lack of understanding
Bulldozes our sensitive minds
Squashes our confidence
Rocks our faith
Just because I smile
Doesn’t portray my inner-self
I hope kindness comes my way
But just a single word, text
Email, or a call from you
Raises my self-belief
Encourages my writing
Inspires me to move forward
That simple act of kindness
is the silver lining to my day

The better friend

I see you rarely

we text sometimes

we speak every now and then

yet I hold you close in my mind

I see you sometimes

We speak once a week

you make me laugh

you are dear to me

I speak to you every day

we text like a conversation

We see each other as much as we can

I roar with laughter with you

you are always in my thoughts

I want to share so much with you

We are all the better friend

Chat to Correspondence

During our lives there are people who stay with us and those that pass through. Very often when we have helped them all that we can, they leave us. We might be sad but we know that we have done all that we can do for them.

I like to think that I have played a healing part in their lives and they are ready to take new steps alone.

This poem I wrote for someone who was an important part of my life, but no longer needs me in hers.

Chat to Correspondence

It started with Hi on a single text, it made me smile

It was the first step, a starting point

I replied Hi, it wasn’t a bolt of lightening

The gentle start was just what I was looking for.

Excitedly it became more, you wanted to know me

You needed a friend, I was happy to be one

You suggested email as you said it would be easier,

Why I thought, it’s not instant, but it was.

You emailed me constantly, frenzied and fast

I responded with the same amount of excitement and speed

Your world was falling apart, you needed to download

All I could do was listen, by reading your words.

You sounded panicky, in pain needing a release

There was nothing really I could do from this side of the screen

I could feel your pain, your anxiety your distress

I sat here feeling useless and inadequate

The chat stopped, instantly like losing a limb

There was nothing at all, I kept looking

I waited, I ached, I worried, I wondered

What had happened to you? Where were you? Did you still need me?

Finally a solitary email arrived

The tune had changed you were different

You found your strength, you found a voice again

There was no more chat between us

I’ve done my job, I step back, slightly sad

I helped you grow, I’m not needed anymore

I have lost a friend, but I know there are more to gain

Your chat now is just correspondence, I am pleased you are yourself again
