skyscraper

Todays poem was inspired by a beautiful skyscraper photo taken of the Twisted Torso in Malmo, Sweeden

twisiting torso

White innocence

Against a deep blue sky

Brightness shinning

Against the lush green trees

Slowly rising

From foundations deep

You turn with strength

Clockwise, each segment

Spirals relative to the next

Each pentagonal floor

Rotates around its vertical core

Your heart pulsates

Increasing, expanding,

Escaping, breaking free

Earth holds you bound

Yet reaching into the sky

Air flows freely

Peace all around

Your torso twists

Like a human being

Contorting, growing

Beauty in your structure

A Hundred books

Hundreds of books

Sit on the shelf

Which do I choose?

Which jumps out?

Words on the page

Threaded together

Weave a story

Keep me engaged

Lure me away

From reality

Lost in the words

A tapestry woven

Thrills and spills

With twists and turns

Love and romance

Lost in a world

Of words entwined

The last page read

Bereft that its over

Still plenty more books

On the shelf to choose

To get lost once again

Away from the world

And into a new dream
